Spooky Flapjack Cookies

Ingredients

  • 40g Margarine
  • 40g Caster sugar
  • 2 tbsp Golden syrup
  • 50g Porridge oats
  • 30g Self-Raising flour
  • Pinch of Nutmeg
  • 25g Raisins or Chocolate chips (optional)

Method

STEP 1

Preheat the oven to 180C (356F)

STEP 2

Beat together the margarine, sugar and golden syrup until a smooth paste

STEP 3

Next add the oats and mix so that they are properly blended

STEP 4

After the oats add the flour and nutmeg, once again mix thoroughly. Plus, stir in raisins or chocolate chips if desired.

STEP 5

Taking a greased tray, make 8 small balls from the mixture. Position them on the tray and pat down slightly

STEP 6

Bake for 10 minutes until the edges of the cookies look golden.

STEP 7

Note that when you first take them out of the oven they will still seem very soft. Leave them to cool before transferring to a wire rack, once cool they will become firm.

STEP 8

Now they are cool, decorate with icing, food colouring, fruit, or any decorations of your choice. Add some eyes and some teeth to make your spooky flapjack characters come to life.
