• Application: Border and bedding plant, good cut flower.
• Position: Sunny sites, protected from strong winds.
• Soil requirement: Any garden with good supply of humus. Digging the soil before planting is recommended.
• Cultivation: For early flowering tubers may be started off in boxed from March; use light soil mixed with peat, keep it slightly moist. Keep boxes cool and free of frosts and plant sprouted tubers when danger of late frosts has passed. Keep plants well watered during growth and remove faded flowers. Life tubers after the first night frosts have killed the leaves and keep the tubers frost-free boxes covered with dry peat.
Remarks: Cutting flowers is best done early in the morning or late in the afternoon. As Dahlia buds do not open in water, cut flowers only when completely developed.

Established in 1946, the Frosts name has become synonymous with quality and style in gardening. The original garden shop and plant department opened in 1962. Harvey Frost, with the help of his sons Brian and Adrian, opened Frosts at Woburn Sands. This was one of the first garden centres in the UK and quickly became established as a leader in its field. Today, the business is still family owned and run by brothers, Jeremy and James Frost.
